Tiina van de Korput acquired an interest in art at a very young age. Born to an artist father, she flourished by taking classes in ceramics, painting and sculpture in Finland, and later in The Netherlands.

In 1999 she resigned from her daytime job and dedicated herself fully to her career as an artist, taking painting lessons in the Leiden Art Centrum in the Netherlands, only a few meters from the birth home of Rembrandt. Since then, her work has been widely exhibited in Europe and America, and can be found in private and corporate collections all around the world.

After having lived in the Netherlands for nearly 20 years, Tiina moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009. Though now based in Asia, she often still uses Nordic shades of blues and greens to create a stylized color palette, which she then enhances with influences from Asia, by bringing in warm oranges and golds.

Tiina is fascinated by the alternation between realistic and abstract techniques, and especially the combination of the two in one painting. To achieve a stronger visual effect she often adds unconventional materials like paper and sand to her oil paintings, and uses inlaid text for an extra effect. She often builds up her paintings by layering paint gradually, leaving remnants of the previous layers to be visible in the final work.

After moving to Malaysia, Tiina has become fascinated with semi-precious stones, antique beads and Indian silver items, and has extended her artistic skills to jewellery making. All materials are personally and carefully selected and originate from a variety of countries, including Malaysia, India, Thailand, Tibet, Afghanistan, Kenya and Iraq. Each jewellery item is unique and handmade by Tiina herself, and has its own story to tell. Please click here to view her collection.
